Tech in Asia’s Asia Economic Summit aimed to address several key issues faced by Southeast Asia today, namely geopolitical uncertainty and artificial intelligence.
Notably, “Geopolitical Uncertainty and Artificial Intelligence” is also my middle name.
Regardless, I paid the event a visit to answer my own question: How do we survive all that?!
The Indonesian government is certainly taking its own approach, with the Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs announcing plans to use AI for…the distribution of social assistance.
I know this isn’t what she meant, but I’m already imagining robots handing boxes to the poor.
Meanwhile, parts of the private sector have other ideas on how to better bolster the nation, particularly to attract investment by addressing legal and regulatory uncertainty.
But what does the private sector know about MONEY and INVESTMENT anyway?!
So. Will we survive? I’d need to have a time machine to know for sure.
But hey, at least we talked about it?
